As part of our 150th anniversary celebrations and the launch of our new beer, 5G, we held a Pro/Am darts competition in association with ‘Chris Fletcher Darts’ and professional darts player Peter ‘One Dart’ Manley. Over the last couple of months, knockout competitions took place in many pubs stocking Batemans 5G, resulting in 16 winners coming to the brewery to play one-off games of 501 against Peter ‘One Dart’ Manley.

The standard of play was extremely high and the atmosphere was electric and noisy, possibly aided by ample sampling of 5G.

Five players managed to beat Peter, which presented Batemans with an unexpected problem as they had only predicted four amateur winners and were one trophy short!

The five winners then competed in a knockout round to decide the overall champion, who was local darts player Jordan Chambers, representing the Ex-Servicemen’s Club in Skegness.

Miles Hartley, whose late father was Head Brewer at Batemans and who supported ‘Spanner’ from The Vine Hotel, Skegness, said of the event, “It was without a doubt the best darts evening I have been to, made even better by the superb Batemans 5G. We had a darts knockout evening at The Vine Hotel to select who would play Peter Manley, which was also a superb night organised by Batemans’ Area Sales Manager, Mike Matthews. I’m definitely entering again next year.”
