Buster Bows Out as Giuseppe Takes the Reins
It’s a bittersweet time at Batemans as we usher in a new Head Brewer while sadly saying goodbye to Buster. A true Welshman like Buster can only stay away from his roots for so long, and so we wish him nothing but the best as he takes his talents back west to Brecon Brewing.
In his two-year run as Head Brewer, Buster has left an enormous influence, guiding us through our 150th anniversary and crafting our flagship favourite, 5G. He was the mastermind behind our vibrant World Hop Tour series, and also reintroduced our classic Dark M. As he and his wife, Jo, return to Wales, we extend a huge “thank you” for the great work Buster has done and the impressive legacy he leaves behind.
Change is rarely an easy thing, and yet we still can’t help but be incredibly excited to welcome our new Head Brewer, Giuseppe D’Oriano (also known as “G”) to the business. G comes from an extensive background: he’s not only run his own brewery, but has worked with giants such as Birrificio Italia, BrewDog, and, most recently, as Brewery Manager at the beloved Northern Monk Brewery in Yorkshire.
Buster said:
“It’s been an amazing experience being a part of the team at Batemans, and I shall cherish the many good memories. I’m also looking forward to seeing what Giuseppe creates, and am hoping that the occasional cask of Batemans escapes to Wales to us!”
Giuseppe, upon arriving to Wainfleet with his partner, Vanessa, said:
“I’m very honoured to take the role of Head Brewer at Batemans. It’s incredible to be part of such an iconic UK brewery, and a huge thanks to Buster for sharing his knowledge with me. Looking forward to working with the whole team and brewing some great beers together!”
Buster and Giuseppe have spent the last couple of weeks in a handover process, sharing all the tricks of the trade necessary to craft our special Batemans beers. We’re thrilled to welcome G to the business, and can’t wait to introduce some international expertise to our proud Lincolnshire heritage. Buster leaves some big shoes to fill – but we’re sure that G is more than up to the challenge, and we can’t wait for whatever the future may hold.
